(drums, quietly added to music)
The shifty Night delays not,
Nor fates of men, nor yet rich goods and spoil.
Be swift to enjoy, what thou art swift to lose.
Let not the Queen choose despair.
Hath Zeus no eye (who saith it?)
watching his progeny?
-Ezra Pound
DESPITE THE FACT that I not only read but understand Pound (and that I'm the only living person I know who has completed Joyce's "Finnegan's Wake", that I got a 4.0 & scholarship in University, escaped from Madison Heights Michigan and am capable of making a delicious meal for two on $5) I realize I've become an idiot. Is this what playing Trivial Pursuit with Judy and David Rhoden will do?
My instinct tells me that the anecdote to this is writing and exercising. So I rode my bike to work after waking & recording my dreams. They were all about Paris (Hilton and France) and trying to kill a female terrorist but failing & shooting a dart gun. The bike ride was laborious, given my ruined left knee. But I'm getting smart again! I Loves You Porgy!
Must say: The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou is a flat out work of delicious brilliant beauty. I don't understand the negative reviews. I don't understand a country like this. But go see this movie. And tell me if you weep when I wept.
I almost wrote "weeped" but didn't because I'm smart.
